A Letter From the Editor

Dear Reader,

More changes!

With the January 2005 edition of ONE, we have begun the production of a larger, expanded magazine. Advances in printing technology have given us the opportunity to increase the size of the page as well as the number of pages and utilize a larger type size – without any increase in cost.

But why are we doing it?

ONE serves as CNEWA’s primary educational tool. Ours is an imposing task: Hundreds of story ideas about the peoples and faiths of the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India and Eastern Europe come across our desks each day, but very few find their way onto these pages. An expanded magazine enables us to bring to life more feature articles and introduce, from time to time, four new departments:

1. news will keep readers abreast of people and events from places of interest and concern.
2. topics will address issues affecting CNEWA.
3. profiles will provide the history and development of each Eastern church.
4. perspectives will offer reflections from CNEWA’s Secretary General.

The smaller format, while endearing in its modesty and brevity, prohibited this expansion and growth. And while expansion means more work for the editorial staff and board, we feel the benefits far outweigh any extra efforts.

We hope you agree.
