Supporting Priestly Ministry

Much is expected from priests serving in CNEWAs turbulent world. They are called to mitigate the fears and address the troubles caused by economic distress, social upheaval, political extremism and war. They are often in the forefront, finding innovative ways to help families cope, survive and even thrive.
These dedicated and loving servants of the Lord have concerns and needs as well. Most do not receive a regular salary; instead, they rely on free-will offerings given on the occasion of the celebration of the Eucharist and sacraments. CNEWA forwards your Mass intentions and offerings to the Congregation for the Eastern Churches, which distributes them to the clergy under their jurisdiction.
In Ethiopia and India, $5 a day helps a priest to cover some basic necessities. In Eastern Europe and the Middle East — where most Eastern Catholic priests are married and have families — the cost of living is higher; $10 a day is hardly enough to support the priest in his ministry.
Despite heavy workloads, these men center their lives on prayer. Be assured, our priests gratefully remember you and your intentions as they celebrate the divine mysteries.
