The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan provides a safe haven for those fleeing war and persecution – Bangladeshis, Circassians, Iraqis, Lebanese and Palestinians have all found refuge in this resource-poor nation.

Emergency aid and health care services to refugees and the poor remain priorities for our Amman staff. The Pontifical Mission’s Mother of Mercy Clinic in Zerqa serves more than 30,000 mothers and children annually. With our support, the Comboni Sisters’ Italian Hospital, known locally as the “hospital of the poor,” provides excellent medical care for just a nominal fee.

We assist the local church, Armenian, Chaldean, Melkite Greek and Latin Catholic, and Greek and Syrian Orthodox, providing grants for building Our Lady Ever Virgin Monastery in Dbeen, for renovating the Armenian school playground in Ashrafiyeh and forconstructing a convent for the Dominican Sisters in Zerqa. Our support of summer Bible camp programs assures a solid Christian formation of Jordan’s youth.
